  38. What is Data Master?
  39. --------------------
  40.  
  41.     Data Master is a database program programmed for Amiga computers.
  42. It's not the best database program for Amiga (the best ShareWare/
  43. LicenseWare database program??), but it's cheap and specially made for
  44. an average user.
  45.     In the program there are five different field types which are
  46. string (text), integer, floating point, type (selection) and boolean
  47. field types. In one record it can be up to 256 different fields and
  48. the number of records is practically limited only by the size of the
  49. free memory. Records can be sorted based on eight key fields.
  50.     You can search from the database those records which match the
  51. search patterns given by the user (for example, all the records whose
  52. first field's first letter is A). You can also search for text strings
  53. from the whole database. Using Data Master it's possible to print the
  54. database for printer or save it as an ASCII file to the disk. Number
  55. fields can be displayed on the screen as graphic diagrams, and using
  56. this function you can simply compare records. There is a separate
  57. field editor for the creating of the fields. Records can be, of
  58. course, moved, copied, deleted or cleared as a single record or as
  59. a block which includes many records.

  61. The Copyright 
  62. -------------
  63.  
  64.    There are two versions of the Data Master program; these are the
  65. registered version, which is LicenseWare, and the demo version, which
  66. is FreeWare. The rules of the registration and the copyright are in 
  67. the following text.
  68.  
  69. 1.   The Data Master program and all the files distributed with it are
  70.    copyrighted, and the owner of these copyrights is the author of the
  71.    program. The author reserves the right to change the code of the 
  72.    program, any file with it, the rules of the registration and the
  73.    copyright, and the registration fee without any public notice. 
  74. 2.   You are not allowed to copy and spread the registered version of
  75.    the Data Master. The only exception for this is the right to make
  76.    back-up copies. However, no one else but the registered user is
  77.    allowed to use the registered version or the back-up copy of it.
  78.    The registered user loses the right to use the program if he does
  79.    not observe these rules. 
  80. 3.   It's allowed to copy and spread the DEMO version of the program,
  81.    which is a FreeWare program, if the following conditions are met:
  82.      A. No profit is made ( nominal charges for copy media are only
  83.         permitted, maximum charge about DM 7)
  84.      B. All the files which were released with the program are
  85.         following it
  86.      C. All the files stay unchanged 
  87. 4.   You are not permitted to change or modify the Data Master
  88.    program, both the demo and the registered version, or any file
  89.    released with the original program. All the files with the original
  90.    program must follow it.     
  91. 5.   The author warrents the diskette which the author has sent to the
  92.    registered user for 3 months from the date when the program has
  93.    been sent by mail. If there are any defects on the diskette, the
  94.    user has to send it to the author in a one week from the date when
  95.    the defects were found, and then the user gets a new diskette from
  96.    the author.
  97. 6.   The program and the files are provided 'as is' without warranty
  98.    of any kind, excluding the diskette warranty. Use of this program
  99.    is at your own risk and discretion.  
  100.  
  101. The registration
  102. ----------------
  103.  
  104.     The registered version of the Data Master contains like the demo
  105. version, for example, a full manual, some example databases and this
  106. file. There is also the Mines game in the registered version. 
  107. There are two ways, how you can order the registered version:
  108. 1. Send DM 35 or GBP (£) 15 in cash by mail with the filled Order Form
  109.    (see the file OrderForm) or with a order where there are
  110.    corresponding information. This way is easy, but not recommended,
  111.    because you can't be absolutely sure how safe it really is.
  112. 2. Pay DM 48 (=35+13) or GBP 20 (=15+5) using the Foreign Payment
  113.    Order. The extra payment is added, because my own bank takes a
  114.    payment from me when I get the money to my account. Send the Order
  115.    Form (see the file OrderForm) and the copy of the Foreign Payment
  116.    Order Form by mail to the author. You have to fill the Foreign
  117.    Payment Order Form in your own bank and also your bank takes a
  118.    payment for doing this. Use the following information, when filling
  119.    the Foreign Payment Order Form.

  145. Ohjelman rekisteröinti Suomessa

  148.     Tällä hetkellä rekisteröintimaksu on Suomessa 90 (yhdeksänkymmen-
  149. tä) Suomen markkaa.
  150.     Maksu voidaan suorittaa Suomessa seuraavassa esitetyin tavoin:
  151. 1. Lähettämällä edellä mainittu summa käteisenä tekijälle postitse
  152.    omien henkilö- ja osoitetietojen mukana.
  153. 2. Maksamalla se Kansallis-Osake-Pankin tilille 103650-84710, ja lä-
  154.    hettämällä pankkisiirtokuitti tai sen kopio ohjelman tekijälle. Te-
  155.    kijä ei vastaa mahdollisesti väärälle tilille suoritetusta maksus-
  156.    ta aiheutuneista vahingoista.
  157. SUOSITELTAVA TAPA:
  158. 3. Tilaamalla ohjelma tekijältä kirjallisesti lähettämättä rahaa tai
  159.    pankkisiirtokuittia, jolloin toimitus tapahtuu postiennakolla ja
  160.    rekisteröintimaksuun lisätään (ainoastaan) postituskulut.
  161.     Jos mahdollista, käytä rekisteröinnissä OrderForm-tiedoston tu-
  162. lostetta tai vastaavat tiedot sisältävää vapaamuotoista tilauspyyn-
  163. töä.
  164.     Rekisteröity versio sisältää demoversion lailla itse ohjelman li-
  165. säksi mm. manuaalin (joka Suomeen lähetetyissä ohjelmissa on täydel-
  166. lisenä sekä englanniksi että suomeksi), esimerkkitiedostoja sekä tämän
  167. tiedoston. Rekisreröityyn versioon sisältyy kuitenkin lisäksi esim.
  168. Mines-peli. Kannattaa myös muistaa, että rekisteröity versio on usein
  169. uudempi kuin demoversio, koska ohjelman kehittäminen jatkuu edelleen
  170. käyttäjien antaman palautteen perusteella.
